Raymetrics delivers a DPSS laser to European Space Agency

In the framework of the two-year 2016 – 2018 research Project QOMA II (Q-Switched Optical Master for Optoelectronics Space Applications II) funded by European Agency (E.S.A.), Raymetrics S.A. together with National Technical University of (Professor A. Papayannis’ team), Cilas (France) and Laser Centre of Hannover, LZH (Germany) designed, developed, manufactured and tested a specific Diode-Pumped Solid State (DPSS) laser at 1064nm suitable for future ground-based, space altimetry and lidar
missions. This project is a continuation of QOMA project which started in 2011 and has attracted the interest from research labs and companies. The QOMA II laser delivers around 13 mJ at 1064 nm at a repetition rate of 100 Hz, with M-square values less than 1.1, providing the possibility to be used in various applications, like altimetry, lidar or biophotonics fields.

Next steps and plans include the application and testing of the laser to Raymetrics LiDAR systems (especially for real-time operational applications like wild fire detection, volcanic ash detection and airport safety).Source: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6500731259646545920/
